Will there be any delay in message delivery if all emails would go through your server first?
We recommend delivering emails through our Email Defense Solution, which is our MX Backup (aka Mail Bagging, MX Fail Over) services along with either of our anti-spam/virus (Postini OR SpamWeeder) solutions. When your primary mail server is available, your emails should only route through our servers first if you use our Postini OR SpamWeeder solutions for continuous filtering.  These solutions will not cause a delay in message delivery.  Otherwise, we do not recommend using the failover server backup MX record as your highest priority.
What will happen to emails if you are down (your server is down, no power, etc...)?
Original incoming messages will be held within our MX Failover solution.  If you have purchased our Email Continuity add-on, "working copies" of each message received for users configured within the email continuity service will be sent the each user's corresponding Email Continuity account.  These accounts may be accessed via a web based interface or pulled utilizing POP3 or IMAP into your existing email client (Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.).  Users may view and/or reply to the incoming messages.  Correspondents do not realize your primary mail server is off line and your business continuity is maintained. We offer 99.9% uptime with all of our services and 99.999% for MX Failover services that include Postini Anti-Spam and Virus filtering. A mission critical solution for Fail Over MX (aka Mail Bagging and Backup MX) services, we recommend our VPS plans with opti
Will emails always go through your MX Failover (MX Backup) server first and then hit our Exchange Server, or would emails go through your server only when our Exchange Server is down?
This depends on the way the MX record is setup. In most cases, the Backup mail server should be set up as the secondary priority and, as a result, most of the emails would be delivered to your Exchange Server first. All of our MX Backup Solutions come with anti-spam and virus filtering during bagging time only.  However, you may opt to utilize continuous anti-spam and virus filtering. The Anti-Spam portals are located at multiple premium facilities in East and West coast. This solution will route emails through the anti-spam servers before sending them to your Exchange server during your uptime.  During primary mail server down time, emails pass through the filtering system and are then sent to our MX Backup Solution where they are held until your primary mail server becomes available. For more information regarding our anti-spam and virus filtering services, please
What will happen if I do not have a Webservio MX backup (aka Mail Bagging) solution?
If you do not have a Backup MX Server (aka Mail bagging or Backup MX), the following conditions may occur if your primary mail server becomes unavailable for any reason:Email will bounce (Returned to Sender)Your (inbound) email will cause a backup in the originating mail server's spoolService Timeout. Depending on the Retry Attempts by the originating mail server, your mailboxes may never receive their incoming emailCorrespondents may not understand bounce messages. To most users, bounced (undelivered) messages are unreadable, so when they can't send an email, they may not try to resend
Can I view a demonstration of the Mail Bagging and/or the Email Continuity service?

Can I use offline payment for purchase of the Mail Bagging service?
Yes. Webservio can accept check payments for setting up the Mail Bagging service for your organization. However, the setup is only completed after the check payment is processed. Please allow at least 2 weeks for completion of the setup when paying by check.
Will I receive notification when my mail server is down.
We offer a text messaging and email notification when your mail server goes down and Webservio's MX failover kicks in to backup your email. In this way, a technician can be informed of a problem with your server as soon as it occurs.  This feature is included in all VPS and Dedicated Mail Bagging plans.  You may add this service to your Shared Mail Bagging plan at any time for an additional fee.
Will I be in a Mail Bagging shared environment?
Depending on your Mail Bagging needs, you can choose a shared Mail Bagging Plan or a customized VPS or Dedicated solution.
 Why is Mail Bagging important?
Mail Bagging (aka mail spooling and mail backup) is extremely important. Email messaging is the most widely used form of daily communication. Imagine the problems that will arise if your customers and employees cannot communicate for a week via email. If you do no think that such an event could take place, consider what would happen if a natural disaster such as a tsunami, earthquake, flood, or hurricane occurs in your area. Your mail server will go down because there will be no internet connection or electricity; your mail server may even be completely destroyed. If this occurs, email messages from your customers will be returned to them as undeliverable. In a less extreme example, your mail server could be overloaded by a spam attack causing valid messages to be bounced back during this temporary down time. These circumstances, among others, are reasons that backing up your email is so important. Webservio will preserve your message
What is an MX record, and how does Webservio's Mail Bagging solution work?
An MX (email exchange) record is an instruction within a DNS (domain name system) that routes the email for the domain to the correct mail server. Without a valid mail exchange record, one cannot send and receive emails. When a message is sent to an email address, that piece of mail is routed through to the mail server whose MX record is listed in the DNS. If your mail server goes down, then the mail is routed to the next MX record listed in the DNS. If no additional MX records are specified, then the message is returned to the sender as undeliverable. When you signup for Webservio's Mail Bagging solution, we will provide you with a backup email exchange record to be added to your DNS. In the event that your mail server fails, your mail is routed to the backup MX record of Webservio's mail server. Our mail server bags the emails sent to your server until it comes back online. Once your email server is back online, Webservio relays all
What is the Shared Mail Bagging control panel?
Webservio understands that mail server downtime can become very critical. Hence, we developed our own customized interface which allows you to view the "From," "To," and "Time/Date" fields of your email queue. This allows you to see what messages are in your queue and ensure that the emails are being bagged. With the control panel, you will have the ability to change parameters such as your mail server destination and monitoring emails. The log file can also be used to give details on each email that was received.
We recently moved locations and our mail server was moved as well. What do I need to do to continue using Webservio's Mail Bagging solution?
Since Webservio does Mail Bagging based on server host names instead of IP address, it does not matter if you moved your office location. However, if you changed the name of our server host names, then please inform support@webservio.com of this change.
I am an existing customer using Mail Bagging service. My mail server went down yesterday but my customers are reporting that my emails are bouncing. Why is this happening?
Our Mail Bagging solution works by detecting when your mail server is down and then immediately bagging the emails. As soon as your email server is back up, our system starts to relay the emails. However, there are certain scenarios where your mail server may come back up but have issues. In such cases, your mail server can still send a response to indicate that it is functional which triggers our server to send the emails. Some of these scenarios are: 1. Disk I/O errors on your mail server. When you bring your server back up, it sends a response to us indicating that it is functional. However, your mail server may be experiencing disk I/O errors or maximum usage of your hard disk space on your mail server. Thus, while it might look to the outside world that your mail server is now functional, it may start rejecting emails because of the issues outlined above. 2. Special setup such as anti-spam software on your mail server. There have
Do you offer spam filtering /virus protection?
The current Mail Bagging setup comes with a basic virus protection and 4 Black Hole List lookup for all bagged emails. Webservio also offers an Anti-Spam Control Panel to add authorized email addresses for your domain(s) to assist in protection from dictionary attacks through your backup MX server. Please select Anti-Spam Control Panel as an add-on during the checkout process to add this feature to your service.Webservio also offers premium anti-spam protection. If you would like more information on spam prevention, then please contact a sales representative at sales@webservio.com or click here to view our Email Defense solution.
I suspect spam messages are coming through my second priority MX record used for Mail Bagging.
A second priority MX record allows the Webservio Mail Bagging system to work. At times, spammers use different MX records randomly to spam. If your mail server is receiving large amounts of spam, we recommend our Email Defense solution which is an anti-spam/virus filtering system combined with the Mail Bagging solution. To learn more about the Email Sheltering services and plans offered please refer to the following web pages:http://www.webservio.net/hosting/email/anti_spam/index.htmlhttp://www.webservio.com/services/emailsecurity/emailsecurity.html
We are in the process of implementing our own MS Exchange server, and are interested in the Mail Bagging service that you offer. Our main domain name is abcdefgh.com, however, we also have another domain called abcd.com. We receive e-mail either way. Do w
No. Our Shared Business Mail Bagging plan offers up to two (2) domains and our Shared Power Mail Bagging plan offers up to three (3) domains. Our VPS Mail Bagging plans are recommended for up to 20 domains and the Dedicated Mail Bagging plans have nearly unlimited domains that may be aliased.
What is the setup requirement on my end? Do you require a list of all the mailboxes for the domain to be setup for Mail Bagging?
We do not need your list of mailboxes to configure email backup. The Mail Bagging setup is very simple on your end, and should only take you a few minutes. All you have to do is to add our mail server as the lowest priority to your MX records. The full instructions are sent to you after signup. If you choose additional solutions with your Mail Bagging service, such as Email Defense and/or Email Continuity, individual mail boxes may need to be configured. If you will require assistance or have additional questions, please contact a Webservio Customer Care Representative.
How do I setup a backup MX (or MX backup) record in DNS and how does it work?
Here is how to configure your records for email to work when a Backup MX (AKA Mail Bagging or MX Backup) Server is involved and the Mail Bagging process:1. User sends an email to 'user@abc.com' (a mailbox hosted by your mail server)2. Their mail server looks up the MX Records for 'example.com' and finds two:   IP: x.x.x.x Weight: 10   IP: y.y.y.y Weight: 20Their mail server first attempts to connect to: x.x.x.x3. Connection fails, which could be caused by server failure, server overload, power outage, etc.4. They try to connect to the secondary MX record: y.y.y.y5. They successfully connect to this server.6. Email transmission begins, and the Backup MX Server receives the email into
How is email data protected on the MX Backup (a.k.a Mail Bagging, MX Fail Over) shared server from other users and hackers?
Each customer's email data is transmitted to separate destimation mail servers. All of our systems are behind premium firewalls in a secured environment. Mostly, the only ports open to our servers are 25 (SMTP) and at times 80 (HTTP). This makes the environment extremely secure.
Which Mail Bagging plans would offer Email Continuity?
Email Continuity service is an add on option to Shared, Dedicated or VPS Mail Bagging services.
Some of my valid emails are sent from other countries and may be considered junk mail. What black hole lists does Webservio use for the Mail Bagging service?
Currently we are using the following blackhole lists:Local DNScombined.njabl.orgdul.dnsbl.sorbs.netsbl.spamhaus.orglist.dsbl.orgbl.spamcop.net
May I view my backup email while my mail server is still offline?
Beginning with the Shared Mail Bagging Business plan you will have Web based access to view your mail queue. With our VPS and Dedicated Mail Bagging, you will have the ability to read those messages while still in the email spool. Webservio also offers an email continuity service which ensures continued email corresponding during your mail server's outage with a Web based interface to send and receive email.
With the Mail Bagging service, how does your server know when to send the stored email to our server? How does your platform know that our server is back online?
Our email spooling service is set up in a way that our mail server ETRN's your mail server at specified intervals based on the package you sign up for. This enables us to determine when your mail server comes back online and to begin relaying the bagged emails. All configuration of the ETRN is done at Webservio and does not require any setup on your server.
How long does it take for your service to be ready after we put the order in? We have a client that needs to have it setup in 24 hours.
Webservio aims to complete all Mail Bagging setups within 4 hours of placement of the order during business days. If you have an urgent requirement, then please contact support@webservio.net to expedite the setup. However, please be considerate of other customers by asking for an expedited request only in cases of emergencies.
We are currently using your Shared Mail Bagging service. However, to protect us during the hurricane season, we need a system that can handle more volume of emails. Do you have any solutions?
YES. Webservio understands that our Shared Mail Bagging service allows customers who do not receive a vast number of email. However, if you need a more robust solution, please look into our VPS or Dedicated Mail Bagging solutions. These services are designed to provide coverage for greater monthly email volume, storage space, and administrative control. Also, for the ability to send and receive messages during your mail server down time, check out our Email Continuity solution. Should you have any questions on the above services, please feel free to contact the sales department by sending an email to sales@webservio.com.
I do not have a dedicated mail server. My email is hosted on a shared mail server with another provider. Can you still back up my emails in case my provider's mail server goes down?
Yes. Our Mail Bagging service is very flexible and can back up emails for just about any situation. In this case, we can bag the emails if your provider's mail server goes down. Once it is back up, we will still relay all the emails to that mail server in the same manner as we would to a dedicated server.
How do I check relaying through your mail bagging systems?
Using our online utility you can send an email to your deignated email address:http://testrelay.mxshelter.com/The destination email gateways are:gw1.mxshelter.comgw2.mxshelter.comgw3.mxshelter.comgw4.mxshelter.comIn additions to the above mail gateways we recommend testing the mail spooling (mail bagging) system as well. For example for shared mail bagging also send an email through:mailbagserver1.mxshelter.comIf you are on a VPS or dedicate plan do the same test for the mail spooling system. If you have purchased our Email Continuity services
How can I determine my text messaging email address for SMTP port monitoring notifications?
Your text messaging address is in the following format:  your_cellphone_number@your_carrier_extension (ie 5551234567@vtext.com).  Please click the following link to view a list of carrier email extensions:  http://www.sensiblesoftware.com/weblog/2011/02/28/cell-phone-email-addresses/
Under what types of condition spooling does not take effect?
The fail over for any mail systems happens only if your mail server does not respond to ETRN. In some scenarios mail servers or spam filtering gateways respond to ETRN and that is when the fail over mechanism does not happen and the normal email delivery continues. Our general recommendation to avoid such scenarios please make certain that your engineer knows what they are doing and avoid accepting emails or make sure that the appliance would retain accepted emails.
