Set up Email Continuity on iPhone iOS7
Article
1. Open Settings

2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendar

3. Tap Add Account

4. Tap Other

5. Tap Add Mail Account

6. Enter your information in each field. Use your normal address and the password you use to log in to the Email Continuity Webmail access page. When you have entered all info, tap Next.

7. Choose whether you would like to set up your account using IMAP or POP. What's the Difference?
  • IMAP accesses the emails directly from the server, so if you delete an email on your phone, it will be deleted on the server. This method may be preferable if you have multiple devices that you will use to access your email continuity account.
  • POP stores emails locally (on your device), so it does not sync. However, once downloaded, the emails may load faster since they are already stored on the device instead of being accessed from the server.
8. Enter information for your account. The Host Name is the name for the mail server. This is included in setup documentation provided by Webservio. It is also part of the URL used to access the Webmail account. For example, https://mxdemo1.mailshelter.com/webmail/ is the URL to access the host mxdemo1.mailshelter.com

9. For User Name, enter your full email address. Make sure to fill in all blanks under Outgoing Mail Server, even though it says "optional." When you've added all info, tap Next.

9. Wait while your phone is Verifying. This can take a few minutes.

10. If everything is verified, you will see blue check marks appear next to each field.

11. If you set up your account using IMAP, you may choose whether or not to use the Notes feature with the Mail feature. The default is on. Once you have made your selection, tap Save.

12. You can now access your Email Continuity account by tapping the Mail app and selecting the correct inbox name.

Troubleshooting:

Server Not Verified

If your phone says something like: "Unable to verify certificate", Continue anyway.

Cannot Connect Using SSL

If your phone says Cannot Connect Using SSL, you may choose Yes to setup the account without SSL (an extra layer of security). If you would like to use SSL, tap No. Then follow these steps:

1. Tap Save at the top right of the screen. Then top Save again when the popup appears.
2. Go back to the Mail, Contacts, Calendar screen and tap the account name.
3. Select SMTP under Outgoing Mail Server. Then select the email continuity host name under Primary Server. Make sure that the Server Port is 465. When that is correct, tap Done.
4. The phone will automatically try to connect now. It may take a few minutes.

My Email Continuity Account is Conflicting with My Exchange Mail Account

In some cases, outgoing messages sent from an Exchange account on your iPhone will be sent through the Email Continuity server even when the Exchange server is functioning correctly. Messages will still be delivered, but there may be a delay. To fix this issue, delete your existing Exchange account and re-add it using the manual method detailed above (you may get the correct hostname and inbound/outbound ports from your network manager). However, this could cause issues with any info synced from the iPhone. To be safe, backup information before deleting the existing account. Alternately, for a quick workaround, do the following:

1. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars
2. Tap the Email Continuity account
3. Tap the Account email
4. Tap SMTP hostname under Outgoing Mail Server
5. Under Other SMTP Servers tap Add Server...
6. Get the Host Name of your server from your network administrator. Enter Host Name, User Name and Password. Tap Save.

You have now added the Exchange server used by your Exchange email account. Follow steps 1 to 4 again to see a list of SMTP servers for the Email Continuity account. Make sure that the Exchange server is now listed as the primary server and the Webservio Email Continuity server should be under Other Servers. Make sure both of those servers are listed as On.

This will ensure that mail is sent through your Exchange server, and if it goes down your iPhone will automatically failover to the Email Continuity server. However, this is just a workaround since messages sent from the Exchange Account on your iPhone may show up in the Sent folder of the Email Continuity account (just on your iPhone) instead. As noted above, a total fix requires deleting and re-adding the Exchange account using the manual method.
