How do I keep my email in box from reaching its maximum capacity?

If you use an email client such as Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, under Advanced Settings be sure you do not have a checkmark under delivery to leave a copy of the message on the server. If this is marked, copies of all email messages will be left on the server and require manual deletion. Otherwise, your email in box will reach its maximum size.
